IEA sees diesel supply tightness running into the second half of 2027
Machine summary The International Energy Agency said in its October Oil Market Report that global gasoil inventories are unlikely to be rebuilt before the second half of 2027. According to IEA figures, worldwide diesel shipments in September stood 700,000 barrels a day below year-ago levels, after declines of 1.3 million barrels per day coming out of Russia and the Middle East that were only partly made up elsewhere. The agency also warned that crude freight market tensions could raise delivered diesel prices again in coming weeks in Europe, Africa and Latin America.

- U.S. diesel prices reached $6 a gallon for the first time last month, CNBC reported, as the Iran war continued to affect global energy markets.
- The IEA said gasoil supply falls short of demand in the fourth quarter of 2026 even with refinery throughput expected to recover rapidly into year-end.
